MS 365: Impending data protection emergency at schools

Schools in Germany could be facing a data protection emergency: According to Dr. Stefan Brink, the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information in Baden-Württemberg, he has ordered “the use of ‘MS 365’ in schools to be stopped” or clear proof of data protection-compliant operation to be provided. Accordingly, he expects schools to offer pupils alternatives to the “MS 365” Cloud service for school use by the 2022 summer vacations or to secure this service with suitable means.
