eperi encrypts personnel data in the cloud to preserve functionality

Data protection by encrypting HR or company medical data makes sense if the data can still be worked with and the keys are exclusively in the hands of the data owners.

Pfungstadt, October 8, 2024 - Recent studies show that around 60 percent of German companies are attacked by cyber criminals. This is particularly critical for personal data, such as that of HR departments or company doctors, especially as there are not only external threats but also internal risks or sources of error that jeopardize the security of sensitive data. eperi sEcure now also protects personal data that is stored and processed in the cloud with Personio, HRworks or the company doctor software CGM ISIS MED, for example. The eperi sEcure solution integrated into the data stream encrypts or tokenizes the sensitive data before it is transported to the cloud and stored there. This ensures reliable protection while maintaining the functions of the respective cloud application. Even if traditional IT security fails, the data is protected from access by unwanted third parties and is of no value to them.

Function-preserving encryption and tokenization
eperi sEcure encrypts and tokenizes personal data to ensure the data protection-compliant use of HR applications both in the EU and internationally. The decisive factor compared to a simple - and for these purposes useless - encryption method is that eperi sEcure preserves the important functions of the software at field level. With eperi sEcure, rules for individual fields, for example in Personio, HRworks or CGM solutions, can be configured for encryption and function retention. This allows companies to take advantage of all the benefits of cloud software while ensuring that data is protected at all times.

Sovereignty of the keys exclusively with the company
To ensure maximum security of this encryption protection, it must be guaranteed that no third parties have access to the encryption keys. eperi sEcure offers this security by ensuring that the encryption keys are exclusively available to the data owner. Neither the cloud provider nor the app provider have access to the keys and can never access the plain text of the data - not even when requested by the authorities. This high level of security is required by the majority of companies. A study by eperi shows that 55% of respondents want to keep their encryption keys exclusively within their own company.
