eperi sees two key trends for 2025
Pfungstadt, December 10, 2024 - For a very short time during the Christmas and New Year period, part of the world holds its breath and people talk and write about what awaits us all in the coming year. For the areas of data security and IT security, it will probably be like every year: Good things will get better and bad things may get worse. However, from eperi's point of view, there are two specific areas that companies should pay particular attention to in terms of data security and data protection in 2025. Ömer Tekin from eperi has summarized the two most important trends in statements:
Artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence (AI) will become an even more important component of security when it comes to defending against attacks. This is not only due to the fact that development is progressing rapidly on the "good" side, but also due to the now widespread use of AI by cyber criminals. By 2024, they have already launched unprecedented social and phishing attacks that most people can no longer recognize as a threat. Large Language Models (LLM) and their future linking will play a key role in the coming year in staying one step ahead of cyber criminals and recognizing AI-supported attacks.
Regulation
DORA in the financial sector and NIS2 in the KRITIS area - to name two of the best-known regulatory examples - will become even more important in the coming year than they already were in 2024. Companies that have to comply with these rules will increasingly refine the high level of security in their own company and at the same time extend it to part of their supply chain (for goods, services and IT). This means that NIS2 and DORA will also become relevant to a certain extent for companies and organizations that were not previously affected by the regulation.
In summary, it will be crucial for companies to proactively focus on these trends in 2025 and continuously adapt their cyber security strategy. This is the only way to effectively master the growing challenges in the digital space and strengthen the cyber resilience of companies - regardless of industry or company size.
