eperi - Future-proof Encryption

For its research work, eperi frequently works with leading cryptographers and world-renowned scientists. For example, together with Deutsche Telekom and the Technical University of Darmstadt, it co-developed post-quantum crypto-algorithms whose encryption is even secure against quantum computers.

These future-proof algorithms hace been integrated into the eperi Gateway. This was the first commercially-available solution in the world to include them.

Elmar Eperiesi-Beck - CEO & Founder of eperi GmbH

Elmar Eperiesi-Beck is CEO of eperi GmbH, which he founded in 2014. As a founding member of the “Allianz fuer Cyber-Sicherheit”  he is actively involved in current cloud security discussions in his efforts to make the IT world more secure. One of his core expertise is advising companies on the secure and legally compliant use of cloud applications – especially with regard to the storage of personal data in the cloud. In recent years Elmar has established himself as a valued consultant for cloud security issues at state, federal and EU-level.

He is particularly proud of the fact that he has been granted several international patents for the eperi template technology in recent years.

Elmar founded his first own company, a legal predecessor of today’s eperi GmbH, in 2003 to turn his personal vision into reality: A security framework based on the most secure open source encryption standards.

He gained the necessary start-up experience by building up a company in the banking sector. Together with a German bank, Elmar put the start-up on a solid footing. This experience contributed significantly to the later specification of the eperi Gateway.

As “Principal” – one of the highest consulting levels – Elmar previously successfully managed global IT projects at IBM. He proved his skills as a certified SAP consultant during the development of IBM’s e-business division and laid the foundation for today’s SAP Netweaver.

Elmar has been involved with the topic of IT security since the 1990s. At that time, he worked as part of the Chaos Computer Club e.V. via FidoNet. Thanks to the work of the group it could be proven that due to missing encryption it was possible to calculate the PIN number on EC cards from the code on the magnetic stripe.

He has always been driven by the desire to support people in keeping control over their personal data. And since security is a matter of trust, Elmar has relied on open source from the very beginning.
